Day 4/ Weaning Off Of Coffee

Late last night I got up because I actually felt hungry, and I ate two organic apples.

Today I had my usual smoothie and throughout the day I drank several cups of tea.

I haven't mentioned it before, but I'm a die-hard coffee drinker, and through this cleanse (Join The Lifeit Detox 28 Days Raw Food Cleanse) not only am I weaning myself off of cheese, chicken, fish, and all cooked food, I'm also weaning myself off of my beloved coffee.

I have been reading the raw food forums online and discovered that there are some raw foodists that still drink coffee (though they drink organic coffee). I have also read that some are into kombucha tea, which seems to be all the rave these days, while others drink coffee substitutes or "healthy coffees".

I've been drinking Black Chai tea, Black Vanilla tea, and peppermint teas. I only had one cup of coffee a few days ago, and I had it with soy milk and agave nectar. And for some reason, I didn't really enjoy it that much.

My strategy is that I first have to have a smoothie and a cup of tea, and then if I still want the coffee, I'll have it then. But what's been happening is that after drinking the smoothie and the tea, I either forget about the coffee, or I no longer have a desire for it.

I experienced my first headache today. I'm not sure if it is because of the coffee withdrawal, or if it's a cleansing reaction. But it eventually went away...it could have simply been a hunger headache.

I prepared a large salad: I followed the recipe for the "Creamy Kale" except I substituted Organic Spring Mix for the Kale. I believe I may have made a smaller portion than the recipe called for, because I found that it came out a little too tangy and salty. So next time I'm going to make it with only 1 Tablespoon each of lemon juice and apple cider vinegar, and only a half a teaspoon of sea salt.

Finally, I did eat something cooked today...I ate a serving of organic grains with organic milk and organic sugar. For some reason, I wanted this. I don't know...maybe my body needs something in that.
